Floating market, a term so often used by tourist wishing to visit Thailand. Frankly a lot of my friend keep on asking me where this floating market is, now for once let me make it clear. There is more than one floating market in Thailand. As much as most of them are congregated in the same district, but there is more than one in actual fact. Some started early in the morning and some lasted till late night.
Floating market is actually a market 'place' for locals to sell their products ranging from decoration to foods item. Contradict to those who say that most trading happens between boats, there a lot that's happening on the riverside. What's so unique about these markets are that they sell their produce on a boat where they travel along these canals or river, whichever you want to call it.
The thing that makes these markets so appealing is that it's uniqueness. Rather than you walking around a street, aimlessly trying to see or buy some or anything. In this case you actually 'hire' a boat and they will take you around the market searching for anything that you might want to buy, even to anything that you might NOT want to buy. To summarized, this is like having your own chauffer to take you to any place you want to go and perhaps you don't intend to go. So I say, sit back and enjoy the surprise that it might bring.
